Growing Your Tech Business - a Unique View for Sweden
“IT market in Sweden has a great potential with annual investment of 10,5 billion EUR in 2008 where IT outsourcing has taken more than 85 million EUR share. Many companies in Sweden by now are looking for alternatives to classic outsourcing to avoid outstanding failures. As opposed to classic outsourcing, nearshore IT team extension does bring value with minimum risk and investment from clients’ side.”
Helen Gustafsson, Trade Commissioner, Exportrådet
Getting to Ukraine – Explore the Way
Helen Gustafsson from the Swedish Trade Council, made a presentation how to start up business in Ukraine. She gave a short view of the country, with basic fact and figures. Helen described the difference between a Swede and a Ukrainian businessman, what traps to avoid and what tips / hints to use when doing business in Ukraine. The case study made from interviews of Swedish businessmen located in Ukraine clearly illustrated positive and negative aspects, culture differences etc.
Johannes Kotsakidis, Swedish Migration Board
New rules for labor migration
Johannes Kotsakidis from the Swedish Migration Board, presented the new regulations valid from December 15, 2008. Visa regulations and work permits are outstanding issues when employees from Ukraine have to travel to Sweden for business trips, trainings, or work for some period of time. The purpose of the new regulations is to simplify the handling process of all those travel arrangements.

Lessons Learned to Sustain a Successful Business
"I had been looking for a way to start a development team outside Sweden for some time when I first came in contact with Ciklum. As our system Ramos is very complex and it takes time to understand it and the business it supports we wanted to have our own staff that could work with our system for a longer period. For a smaller business as Viskan India was not an option. Ciklum understands the needs of Viskan and have always been able to help us out in the best of ways."
Nils Granath, Investment Officer, Swisscom
The Strategic Advantage of Nearshoring for Software Companies
“Today software companies are confronted with customers cutting back on investments in software licenses, while at the same time also demanding lower support fees. However the customers are simultaneously demanding rapid and low cost implementation of new and customised features. Nearshoring allows software companies to quickly adjust to these changing market conditions, increasing flexibility and lowering cost, while securing important knowhow and IPR in-house.”
